How to create a popular Facebook fan page.

Have you ever wanted to stop joining fan pages and start making them? Here, I'll be teaching you the ins and outs of creating a successful Facebook fan page.

Step one: Think about a topic.

I know this is a stretch, but fan pages are made because other people can relate to them. An example would be one of my fan pages entitled “I always pay attention to the “L” and “R” on my headphones. Always.” That seems to be one of my more popular ones because so many people can relate to it. I have numerous pages to see which ones are more popular than others as well. Like, I have one entitled “I have to wake up early tomorrow and CAN'T FALL ASLEEP!” That one seems to be pretty popular as well. So just make one that YOU can relate to, and I promise, if you can relate to it, others will as well.

Step Two: Manage your page content.

The first thing you want to do is find a photo for your page. I always aim for “funny” pictures. Pictures just make the page that much more attractive. Also, in your little descrpition of the page, write a catchy tagline or a few quick words. Remember, it's just a page, most people won't spend a lot of time on it. If you think your page will catch on, feel free to throw your website link in there, just don't make your website the sole focus of your page. Remember, you could always make a fan page for your website then advertise it by making facebook fan badge.

Step Three: Send the invites.

Now, this step may seem like a no brainer but its actually a misused step. When I say “misused” I mean the timing isn't right. Timing is key, you should click the “become a fan” button AND send the invites all at one time during what I call “Facebook Prime Time.” FPT is approximately from 7pm to 10pm. That is the time when most people are on. Also, try and do it sometime over the weekend when most kids are on, I create my pages on Sundays because I know a lot of kids want to updates their facebooks right before they go to bed.

That's it! But here are a few steps to help you even further:

Grammar and punctuation. Make sure you spell EVERYTHING correctly, these kids will eat you alive if you don't.
Don't give up. If you don't gain a lot of fans your first try, don't worry about it. Just keep creating and following these steps and eventually you'll get your big break.
If you create a fan page that is offensive, Facebook will delete it.
